Blessing of the School and Chapel
We are privileged to benefit from a permanent Chapel, that was blessed by Bishop Patrick McKinney and our Parish Clergy on 5th July 2024. The Bishop blessed each of the classrooms, and the Romero Crosses showing the dove of peace that are in every room.
The event was attended by representatives from the Sisters of Mercy, who are now based at St Philomena’s Convent. The School has strong links with the Sisters and is built on land that belonged to them.
The Sisters generously donated a stunning stained glass window from the old Beechwood Convent to our new Chapel. The glass depicts the sun, and has emblems of the Corporal Works of Mercy at the sides. It is dedicated to Mons Humphrey Wilson who was the parish priest and Chair of Governors for many years.
